“And if I don’t want to die, I’ve got to start living.”
Anna Fox is agoraphobic. She hasn’t stepped out of her house in 10 months, after a horrible tragedy that caused her to develop PTSD. Her only friend is wine and her favourite pastime is looking into her neighbours’ houses with her Nikon. Her life goes on and on and on…
When the Russells, a perfect family of three, move in next door, she’s reminded of her own once-perfect family. She is content with just admiring them from a distance.
Then one day, she hears a piercing scream rip across the silence. She does all she can to investigate, but will anyone trust her? More importantly, can she trust herself?
This book was so good that I finished it in 5 hours straight!
Frankly, Anna is an amazingly brave woman. She has a phobia of stepping out of her house. So what does she do? She goes to her neighbours’ house to investigate a murder that just took place! If I were her, I’d give it some time. Also, in the end, she faces the murderer alone, and emerges victorious. Brilliant.
She’s also pretty careless, though. I understand that being unable to go out if your house results in a lack of engaging activities, but alcohol is probably not the solution. Also, as Dr. Fielding repeatedly says, her medicines are not to be taken with alcohol. So why does she continue to disobey him?
I feel really, really sad for Anna because she suffered so much. She had to go through the pain of being separated from her family. And yet, she was determined to live.
And the plot twists. Wow. Trust me, you’ll never know what’s coming until you read it.
If you like murder mysteries, this is the book for you! So what are you waiting for? Pick the book up and read!
